Classes

A printout of the timetable for classes will appear here as soon as the programme is decided.

In previous years the classes we have run are:

Barrel Jumping

A chance for all to have a little jumping fun. Starting at 6 barrels, laid flat, keep your horse/pony jumping straight and clean. One barrel being removed after each round until we are left with only one. Cleanest, straightest jump wins !

 

Starts at 2pm.

Dressage

2012 Starts at 9am.  Rosettes to 4th place.  For information about the tests being used and Dressage entry forms, visit the Downloads page. 

Entry Fee £5.50.  Cheques payable to Hartshill Riding Club.

 

Entries close on the Saturday before the actual show.  Times available between 6 & 9pm on the Thursday prior to the competition on 07974264236

Dressage - Specific club Rules and Regulations

1 Restricted is a combination of horse & rider not to have been placed 1st three times or more in a class of  3 or more competitors.

2 Open is a combination of horse and rider that holds any British Dressage or British Eventing points or has been placed 1st three or more times at Hartshill Riding Club in that class (ie WT, Prelim, Novice).

3 No refunds after the closing date.

4 It is a competitor’s responsibility to be ready and present themselves to the dressage steward at the entrance to the arena at least 10 minutes before their allocated time. Failure to present in good time may result in the withdrawal of a competitor without refund of fees.

5 The Walk Trot test is for genuine novices only and is not open to entrants of our BD Novice class unless the entry is non-competitive.

Gymkhana

Five varied races to test both the horse and rider. Races to be decided on the day.

 

Starts at 2.30pm

  • Class 1: Lead Rein under 5 (trotting only)

  • Class 2: Lead Rein under 8 (trotting only)

  • A Group: Under 11

  • B Group: Under 14

  • C Group: Over 14 (no upper age limit)

Handy Pony

A chance for the younger ones to show everyone what their ponies can do around a course of obstacles!

 

Starts at 1.00 - 2.00pm.

Mini Jumping

Competitors are reminded that entering the mini-jumping excludes entry into any class in the main show-jumping ring on the same horse/pony on the same day with the exception of the Clear Round.

Best Turned Out

Ridden. Pony/horse and rider must be correctly and immaculately presented to the Judge.

Scoring : Overall view 40%, Pony/Horse 30 %, Rider 30%7

Mountain & Moorland

Ridden. Open to all Native Breeds.

Scoring : Correctness of Breed Type and Conformation 60%, Manners 20%, Overall Presentation 20%

Best Rider

Ridden. (Snaffle bridle, no spurs or schooling whips)

Scoring : Position of Rider 20%, Correctness & Effectiveness of Aids 20%,Individual Show 30%, Overall Presentation 30%

5

Riding Club Horse/Pony

Ridden.

Scoring : Suitability 30%, Performance & Manners 30%, Conformation 20%, Overall Presentation 20%

 

Class 1 is split into Juniors and Seniors with rosettes awarded separately

Classes 2-5 are split into Lead Rein, Juniors and Seniors with rosettes awarded separately.

Showing Jumping

Starting at 9.30am (Entries close 10.30am

Class 1 - 1ft 9" Clear Round -

Entry fee: £3.00  Rosettes to all clear rounds.

Starting at 11.am

Class 2 - 2ft (See Rule 10 for more information)

 

Class 3 - 2ft 3" (See Rule 11 for more information)

Not before 12.30pm

Class 4 - 2ft 6"

Class 5 - 2ft 9"

Not before 2.00pm

Class 6 - 3ft

Class 7 - 3ft 3"

Additional height classes will be held if time permits

Entry Fee £4.50

Entries for the above classes close 5 minutes after the start of the class after which entries will be subject to a £1 late entry fee

 

Single Phase: All classes apart from the clear round will be single phase. Competitors will jump the whole course and will be timed over the second section.

 

In all the above classes horses and ponies may jump together, but will be judged and rosettes given separately. When entering you MUST declare if you are jumping a pony or horse. Ponies 14.2hh and under, horses over 14.2hh.

 

Show Jumping - Specific club Rules and Regulations

  1. Show/Hacking jackets must be worn in all jumping events unless specified by the judge.
     

  2. Studs, spurs and whips will be allowed in the main jumping ring but excessive use may lead to disqualification.
     

  3. Practice jumps, these must be jumped with the red flag on the RIGHT HAND SIDE.
     

  4. The height of the practice jump must not exceed the height of the fences of the current show-jumping class.
     

  5. All entries for the jumping classes are to be made BEFORE the start of the class, exception is the clear round where entries will close at 10.30am, or where any competitor who takes a fall will be eliminated and asked to leave the ring dismounted.
     

  6. If you are eliminated you may jump a SINGLE fence before leaving the ring.
     

  7. The height of the main ring jumping will not exceed stated height on programme.
     

  8. The course builders have the final say in height due to weather restrictions on the day.
     

  9. Any horse/rider combination winning or being placed 2nd in a 2’6” jumping class or higher more than twice (4 competitors or more), will not be eligible to take part competitively in the 2’ - class 2

  10. Any horse/rider combination winning or being placed 2nd in a 2’9” jumping class or higher more than twice(4 competitors or more), will not be eligible to take part competitively in the 2’3” - class 3.
     

  11. Classes 2, 3, 4 & 5 are not open to BSJA Registered horses/ponies

Novelty Classes:

If numbers and time allow, a special novelty class will be on at various times during the day. See caravan for more details. Entry Fee: £4.00. Rosettes to 4th place. No annual points.

Scoring : Jumping Phase 50%, Style & Manners whilst Jumping 20%, Style & Manners whilst Showing 10%, Conformation 20%

 

Competitors entering both classes 1 & 3 or 2 & 4 may enter the latter classes HC (for the jumping phase) only
