Presentation evening 2009
A fantastic evening was had by all who came and joined us to
celebrate the riding club’s success throughout 2009, and
indeed the success of those members who won the lovely
trophies and rosettes we presented at our presentation
evening at Drayton Manor on Saturday 14th November.
This year we made the decision not to publish a list of the
winners prior to the presentation evening, and this went
down really well; it was lovely to see so many surprised
faces as the results were announced and trophies awarded.

Our Endeavour Awards this year went to Kelly Dearne,
Heather Keeling, Hannah
Sclater and Sophie Eckely with a
special award to Lee Inscoe, our youngest
member at 2 years of age.
Our overall Champion for 2009 was Sophie Croxton
(Supreme) Amy Croxton (Reserve), with
Seline Hopkin and Aoiffe Yap Walsh
sharing 3rd place.

Thanks to your support we were also able to present the
Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance with a
cheque in the sum of £750, a fantastic figure which was
raised at our Charity Show held on Saturday 3rd October, and
Melanie from WNAA was at our presentation evening to receive
our cheque on their behalf, and thanked everybody for their
generosity.
We at Hartshilll Riding Club
pride ourselves as being a real family show with something
for all ages and abilities at very affordable prices, and
feel this is what has helped us be such a successful show
despite the difficult economic circumstances which have
faced many people this year.
We would once again like to thank everybody who gave their
time to help us on show day, picking up poles, helping with
the Handy Pony and behind the scenes, painting jumps,
helping set up the show jumping courses and dressage arenas;
without whom, the shows would not have gone ahead. A huge
thank you to you all.
We look forward to seeing you all again in the new season,
so keep checking the website for the new schedule and show
dates, and also for the winter series of events which will
be published very soon.
AGM 2009
There was a really good turnout to our AGM, and we would
like to thank everybody for taking the time to come along
and give us your views and ideas. Your new committee for
2010 is:-
Janet Hopkin (Chair), Pippa Pantani
(Secretary), Nigel Keeling (Treasurer),
Jaynie Kennell (Dressage Secretary) and Steve
Bartle.
The website will keep you up to date with events taking
place throughout the winter and of course the 2010 schedule
will be posted as soon as it becomes available.
Volunteers wanted
The meeting was held last night and a number of important
changes have resulted. Please keep on looking for the
minutes and other information about the way that your club
will develop in the coming year.

If you would like to help out but don't know how to, or are
shy and don't want to push yourself forward, then contact
committee members through
this link and ask for more information. Volunteers
are vital to the smooth running of the show and committee
members are always looking for volunteers to help organise
and set up the field. If you have any skills or are
just strong and capable of picking up poles that are knocked
down during the showjumping, then get in touch.
A list of volunteer tasks is being produced
and if you feel able to help, please contact the
Chairman. All will be welcomed.
Your Photographs
We are currently compiling the Hartshill Riding Club photo gallery.
Unfortunately, we
don't have as many pictures of enough DIFFERENT
people, riders,
horses or spectators.
So, do you have any photographs that can be used?
If the answer is yes, then can I suggest some things which
may make it
easier for me to publish and to share them.
-
Anybody in the picture must give
their permission for it to be published.
-
No compromising pictures of minors
please.
-
Send as an attachment to:
webmaster@hartshillridingclub.co.uk
-
Send as a jpg, gif, tiff, bmp (if
you must but please be careful that the
picture is not a monster file), png or any recognised
picture format. Some
cameras use proprietary file types and may prove
difficult for me to convert.
-
Try and send "interesting"
pictures. Not everyone will appreciate the
300+ wonderful images you have taken of you and your
pony - one or 2yes! 3
maybe - but ....
-
Try and put the image into context
by adding a few words in the email.
-
Include the name of the rider,
horse/pony and any one else who is a major
part of the picture.
-
Action shots are nearly always
interesting. But, please don't send
images of riders having an accident if they were
seriously hurt!
The first photographs submitted by
members are now on the Gallery page
